Agreed. The other week my buddies and I got stopped by an officer that decided to have a power trip and tell us that we were riding dangerously... considering the fact that we had done nothing wrong and were riding very safely (in a single file) we all gave him fake names since none of us ever take our ID while cycling. We got a good kick out of it since there was really nothing that he could do. I think that bikes stopping for buses is a little ridiculous because i would assume that if a cyclist saw a bus stopping and its doors opening he would be smart enough not to fly by right next to the door.

That's dumb about cyclists stopping for school buses. Bikes are much smaller, much more maneuverable, much easier to stop (because they're going much slower), etc.. than a car. Unless it's a peleton, it makes no sense to make cyclists stop for school buses. What if the cyclist just moved to the sidewalk and kept riding? Or if the cyclist went onto the sidewalk and walked his/her bike as a pedestrian (just like the school kids?). How's the bus driver going to report the cyclist if there is no license plate on the bike to scribble down while they're texting :) ?

It's amazing that cycles and cyclists have to obey some of the same laws as cars when there is a HUGE difference between the 2 modes of transportation.
