I think the reason the team pulled out of the Tour was because the possible sanctions ASO will put on the team in ’09. Much like Astana back in ’07 embarrassed ASO, S-D knew staying in the race would further aggravate the ASO. They can only hope now that the ASO will only take action against Ricco and not the whole team. It all might be a mute point if S-D sponsors jump ship which seems to be the rumor.
