  4. LeMond is an idiot.

Countless research from the scientific world has proven that VO2 max can increase with training, as can lactate threshold.

Start with this and read up on references and references of references:
    Eur J Appl Physiol. 2007 Oct;101(3):377-83. Epub 2007 Jul 28

  5. I think he is referring to changes over the course of stage races? Like Floyd’s miracle comeback stage.

  6. I think hes saying you can only increase it by so much. You have to accept that people like him and LA, and all those top guys are freaks. When “joe domestique” is making similar watts per kg, you have to ask questions. Looking at the gaunt skeletal physiques of some of these guys you’d have to be an idiot to beleive they weighed over 60kgs. I beleive they inflate their weights so their wattages appear credible.

  7. He’s right on, just show up at the OTC with a VO2 max within the parameters and they throw you out, VO2 max hardly changes.

  8. He’s right on, just show up at the OTC with a VO2 max outside the parameters and they throw you out, VO2 max hardly changes.

  9. Heard it first on The Fredcast! Cyclingnew.com article on LeMond with exact conversation reported by the Fredcast: http://www.cyclingnews.com/riders/2008/interviews/?id=greg_lemond_oct08
